Last Sundays: An Ongoing Immersion Practice with Patricia Sullivan
Sundays, 11am-2pm
Feb 25, Mar 18, Apr 29...
Cost: $40
While the spread of physical well-being and mental health aspects of yoga are positive trends in American practice, Patricia’s teaching seems to dig deeper, drawing from a dedicated study of the esoteric fundamentals of yogic tradition. Breathing practices, mudras, mantras, sutra study, and directing the flow of energy through the body all play a part in her classes.
Combined with her yogic knowledge, Patricia has long been a student of the Buddhist tradition of meditation and the practice of compassionate mindfulness in living. This influence results in a teaching style that is non-dogmatic and non-judgmental as well as exacting in form and methodology.
The third aspect of Patricia's work that particularly inspires her students arises from her generous creativity. An accomplished sculptor, Patricia's classes are imaginative, exploratory and continuously evolving. She emphasizes process rather than end result, curiosity rather than "knowingness", and always brings to her classes a feeling that yoga is not only a vehicle for self-transformation, it's joyful and playful.
By weaving these three streams of practice: precise knowledge, gentle awareness, and artistic innovation, Patricia's classes offer us the opportunity to explore the deep, subtle, and life altering force that is yoga.
