About the Series
Beginning students are often times reluctant to try Vinyasa classes because they are afraid of feeling disoriented or unable to keep up. This 8-week series was designed to dispel the popular myth that Vinyasa Yoga was only suitable for athletic people or experienced practitioners. In this series, students will be introduced to the basic principles and techniques of Vinyasa Yoga in an environment that is safe, fun, and supportive. Each week we will look at a different group of poses, beginning with the ever-important foundation of standing poses and sun salutations, and then moving into seated forward bends, twists, backbends, and basic inversions. Throughout the series emphasis will be placed on the integration of breath and movement without compromising the integrity of physical alignment. By becoming more familiar with the breath and the essential principles of alignment, students will gain a clearer understanding of the relationships between the poses and will thus experientially discover how linking them together is actually quite organic.  This introductory series is intended to accommodate new and continuing beginners, but it is also appropriate for more experienced students interested in refining the foundational elements of their practice.

About Geoffrey
Geoffrey Roniger believes that the practice of yoga is ultimately about connection and presence. By reawakening our connection with the ground and re-inhabiting all of the parts of our body that we have unconsciously abandoned, we experientially expose the illusion of ourselves as separate beings, cut off from nature and from each other. A dedicated practitioner of 9 years, Geoffrey is a graduate of Piedmont Yoga Studio's 18 month Advanced Studies Program and continues to assist his primary teacher, Rodney Yee.
