    Program Overview
In order to support an on-going and deepening of the yoga practice by advancing students and potential teachers, The Yoga Loft has developed The Advanced Studies/Teacher Training Program, which is a comprehensive, integrated educational program that honors the centuries-old cycle of teaching and learning. Because we value the richness of the internal body, all of the courses in the Advanced Studies/Teacher Training Program are designed to awaken the body and the mind to the energetics that underlie our being and define who we are. Through this approach, we hope to help students cultivate the quiet mind and meditative state that eventually assists them in the deeper work of personal transformation.

Through examples, stories, analysis, reading, interacting, learning and teaching, participants will discover how the ancient art and science of yoga is relevant today. While adjunct teachers hail from different traditions and backgrounds, they work together to create a program that organically takes root in students and helps them embody the practice of yoga.

These additional courses, described below, will also help students to open to the creative part of teaching, and to participate in the art of teaching as a process of stepping into themselves. In doing so, we include in our program the broader context of Vedic studies, such as Ayurveda, meditation, and the yoga philosophy of the Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita, among others. Also included are living anatomy, psychology and workshops with a variety of visiting teachers that have influenced many on this yogic path.

    Weekend Retreat
Note that there is also a Weekend Retreat: Asana and Pranayama Intensive with Tony Briggs and Geoffrey Roniger from Friday, November 28th through Sunday, November 30th. During this retreat, students will have the opportunity for immersion into a deeper practice, including Pranayama, the history of Yoga, philosophy discussions, and extended asana practice.
